The Higher Education Links programme seeks to support mutual collaboration between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Argentina and counterpart organisations in the UK (including HEIs, NGOs, Public Offices and Research Centres) in order for them to develop joint projects to tackle societal challenges with direct relevance to Argentina’s social welfare and economic policy. HELINKS provides successful candidates with small-scale match-funding to develop high-quality collaborations between UK Institutions and Argentine HEIs. 

There are two types of grant candidates can choose to apply for: HELINKS Travel Grant and HELINKS Workshop Grant. Compare and find out their differences before applying:

What stage of binational collaboration is this grant applicable to? This grant seeks to support the development of initial or incipient UK/Argentina institutional connections with the aim of creating proposals for future project partnerships. This grant applies to more advanced stages of binational collaborations where the participating institutions have already identified a joint project of interest and are seeking to engage in face-to-face workshops to develop and eventually execute their joint work.
What does the grant cover? This grant covers the cost of a return airfare to the main location of the partner institution in the UK or Argentina. Matching funds from any of the two institutions should cover any additional travel-related costs (accommodation, meals, travel insurance, etc.) The grant contributes up to AR$ 180,000 towards the development and execution of workshops which must comly with the HELINKS Workshop Grant guidelines
What is the expected outcome of the grant?  The successful candidate should have undertaken the agreed trip to the partner institution and carried out relevant activities to develop a draft proposal for a potential future binational collaboration. Submission of a final report outlining this intended proposal will be required. The participating institutions will have carried out a series of workshops at the Argentine HEI. They will have submitted a final report including the results of the workshops and a proposal for the continuation of the binational collaboration.
When should the activity take place? Successful candidates should travel to their destination institutions between 1 October 2018 and 31 March 2019. The joint workshops with UK experts should take place at the Argentine HEI between 1 October 2018 and 31 March 2019.

UK and Argentine applicants must submit their joint proposals by completing the application form in English. The application form must be signed by both the applicant and their main counterpart at the partner institution. The application form and supporting documents must be attached and sent to HELinks.Argentina@britishcouncil.org identifying the name of the proposal in the subject line.

FAQs

When will successful candidates be notified?

Successful candidates for either the HELINKS Travel Grant or the HELINKS Workshop Grant will be notified as of 31 August 2018.

Can a candidate apply simultaneously for both grants?

 A candidate can only apply for both grants in the same call provided that:

  • The partner institution(s) is/are different for each grant;
  • The development stage of each project is aligned to the corresponding grant guidelines (initial contact in the case of Travel Grant versus more advanced project collaboration for the Workshop Grant);
  • There is no overlap between the specific focus of each proposal submitted for consideration.
  • Separate application forms are submitted.

Will there be any additional opportunities to apply for HELINKS?

There will be a second call for HELINKS Travel Grants which will open in September/October 2018.  There will be no further HELINKS Workshop Grants calls until 2019.

Am I eligible to apply for a Workshop Grant in relation to a project for which I have previously received Travel Grant funding?

Yes, as long as your Travel Grant proposal has reached a more mature stage eligible to receive Workshop Grant funding.
